My host family at the time kept some bees so I had the opportunity to photograph them. They are really quite tame when undisturbed so I didn't need any protection when I took the photos. The lens I used was Micro Nikkor 60mm f/2.8 with an extension tube, a flashlight was tethered by a TTL cable to illuminate the scene.
